An entire week in the spirit of transcontinental sustainable water management

AN ENTIRE WEEK IN THE SPIRIT OF TRANSCONTINENTAL SUSTAINABLE WATER MANAGEMENT

In September 2018, Budapest became again the capital of water, since Hungary hosted two outstanding international water conferences. Both European and Asian water experts participated the two Eurasian-focused one-week long international events, featuring a wealth of professional programs.

The 7th ASEM Sustainable Development Dialogue on “Sustainable and Integrated Water Management in the 21st century – addressing imminent challenges” organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary (providing the EUSDR PA5 Hungarian coordination), was held between 11th and 12th September 2018. The international event dealt with cross-border water issues, development opportunities for river basin management and the strengthening of interregional cooperation as well as the sharing of related experience. The event was attended by 160 participants from about 40 countries. Both EUSDR PA5 (environmental risks) Priority Area Coordinators Mr Karoly Gombas and Mr Gheorghe Constantin participated the event as a speaker. Also the representatives of EUSD PA4, ICPDR,  Sava Commission, Danube Commission and the Mekong River Commission, EC DG Environment, World Bank, Global Water Partnership, the Danube Rectors Conference and national delegates participated the event to share their knowledge.
