Flood events at both, the Austrian and the Hungarian part of the catchment area of the Raab, cause flooding and, consequently, result in a risk to life and infrastructure. Therefore, it is in the interest of the organizations which are responsible for flood control and disastermanagement, to inform in case of floods as early as possible, how the expected flooding is going to develop – to plan an efficiently disasterresponse, even acrossborders.
The project was submitted to the Interreg CrossborderCooperationProgramme Austria- Hungary 2014-2020 and selected by the Monitoring Committe for support. The project received Letter of Recomendation from EUSDRPA5 in 2016, so its one of our strategical project!
The core outputs of the project are, on the one hand, the updated floodforecasting model Raab and, on the other hand, the warningtool to be developed for the presentation of the expected flooding areas.
