The closing event of the DARENet and PROFOUND projects with the EUSDR PA5 Disaster Management Working Group Meeting took place between the 17th and 18th of November 2022, in Budapest.
On 17 November 2022, the attached Letter of Intent was signed in Budapest by Vice President FF BG László BÉRCZI PhD on behalf of CTIF Danube Countries Working Group
and by Zsolt KELEMEN, Chair of Disaster Management Working Group for the Steering Group of EU Strategy for the Danube Region – Priority Area 5 (Environmental Risks) with a view to strengthening collaboration within the Danube Region in the areas below:
- consulting on European legislation;
- exchange project and survey results, statistics, and publications;
- exchange project-related information (e.g. newsletter and media releases);
- invitations to relevant meetings and conferences (at the parties’ own cost).
Presidents of four national firefighter associations have already counter-signed this Letter of Intent:
- Ante SANADER, President of the Croatian Firefighter Association;
- BG. Tibor DOBSON, President of the Hungarian Firefighter Association;
- Dragan ĆAPIN, President of the Serbian Firefighter Association;
- Janko CERKVENIK, President of the Slovenian Firefighter Association.
We are awaiting counter-signatures from CTIF President Milan DUBRAVAC, CTIF Danube Working Group Secretary Mario STARCEVIC, and President of the Austrian Firefighter Association, Robert MAYER and President of the Slovakian Firefighter Association, Jozef Smolinský.
As a result of this joint session within the closing event of PROFOUND – Procedures of Rescue Organizations in Flood Operations Unified in the Danube Region (UCPM-2020-EX-AG) organized in collaboration with DAREnet – Danube River Region Resilience Exchange network (H2020- SEC-21–GM-2016/2017) and EUSDR PA5 DMWG – EU Strategy for the Danube Region | Environmental Risks Priority Area | Disaster Management Working Group, a Serbian partner and a Croatian partner have already joined two Interreg DRP Project Proposals already submitted.
The participants also had the chance to discuss different topics about regional framework and preparedness activities at the Danube region level, cross-border cooperation and standards and procedures of volunteer organizations.
On the 18th of November, the DAREnet General Assembly meeting took place, where the members could discuss the progress they achieved since the last meeting.
The participants also discussed the way forward regarding the InDiMaND proposal, the DAREnet partnership, and the role of the DMWG in the next PAC project.
In the afternoon the Slovakian, Serbian, and Hungarian participants had the chance to take part in an INTERREG A (cross-border cooperation) meeting.
