INTERREG EUROPE – 4TH CALL FOR PROJECT PROPOSALS IS OPEN UNTIL 22 JUNE 2018
The fourth and last call for proposals for interregional cooperation projects opened on 7 May and closes on 22 June 2018, at 12:00 p.m. (midday) CEST (Paris time).
The European Union’s cohesion policy is aimed at reducing development, growth and quality of life disparities among European regions. For the 2014-2020 funding period, it concentrates on promoting actions for a more innovative, sustainable and inclusive European territory, in line with supporting the goals of the Europe 2020 strategy.
The Interreg Europe programme contributes to this objective by supporting policy learning among relevant policy organisations with a view to improving the performance of regional development policy instruments. Its eligible cooperation area covers the whole territory of the EU with its 28 Member States.
Interreg Europe is divided into four priority axes related to the Europe 2020 strategy:
1) Strengthening research, technological development and innovation,
2) Enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs),
3) Supporting the shift towards a low-carbon economy in all sectors,
4) Protecting the environment and promoting resource efficiency.
Within each priority axis, specific objectives are defined, under one of which applicants are invited to submit their project application. Important issues such as renewable energy, water quality or waste management are still underrepresented among the approved projects.
According to partnership requirements, public authorities, public law bodies and private non-profit bodies are eligible to receive funding. All the remaining European Regional Development Fund and Norwegian funds for projects (around 74 MEUR ERDF and 280,000 EUR Norwegian funds) are available for the fourth call for proposals.
