JOINT HUNGARIAN-SERBIAN COMBAT AGAINST DROUGHT AND EXCESS WATER
Opening Conference of the WateratRisk project was held on the 17th of January at the Vojvodina Chamber of Commerce, Novi Sad, Serbia and few days later a Hungarian press conference was held in Szeged on the 24th of January 2018.
In an effort to mitigate the damaging consequences of extreme weather conditions, the project brings together leading experts, researchers and engineers from Hungary and Serbia under the leadership of the University of Szeged, in cooperation with the Faculty of Sciences and the Faculty of Agriculture from the University of Novi Sad, the Lower-Tisza-District Water Directorate and the Public Water Management Company of Vojvodina.
The project will support the sustainable development and climate resilience of strategic sectors and the entire border region. The capitalization and multiplier effect of the project results is guaranteed by the establishment of a joint HUSRB-CB Drought and Excess Water Research and Monitoring Centre, responsible for further R&D, implementation of new monitoring techniques to water management and agriculture, communication and networking.
